Pre-Travel Advice
- Read your travel insurance policy and make sure you comply with all terms and conditions.
- If you are travelling to Europe, take your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).This will entitle you to benefit from the reciprocal health agreements which exist between certain European Countries.
If you need an EHIC card, you can get this from the following locations:- Pick up a form from the Post Office.
- Online: www.dh.gov.uk/travellers.
- By Phone: 0845 606 2030 (EHIC Application Line).
- Check what vaccinations you need at least 6 weeks prior to travelling.
- Make sure your visas and passports are up to date and do not expire whilst you are abroad. Check the details on your tickets upon receipt.
- Do not pack money, valuables, photographic equipment or important documents in your 'checked-in' luggage. Keep them secure at all times during your journey.
- If you take valuable items on holiday, make sure these are included under the All Risks section of your household contents insurance policy.
- If you are driving abroad, check your licence, green card, the local driving law requirements and arrange car breakdown and third party liability insurance if applicable.
- Leave plenty of time to arrive at your departure point by the designated check-in time.

- Name of insurance company
- Store above information on your Mobile Phone, business card or even a piece of paper so that it can be easily stored in your Purse or Wallet. This will enable people to be able to assist you if you are unable to communicate with other i.e.: you are unconscious.
- Make copies of your Travel Information such as your passport, Insurance details including 24 emergency number and ticket details. Leave these with Travel Companions /Relatives so if the worst happens they are able to assist you.
- If you're going to be involved in any activities, make sure that these are covered.
- Get a good guidebook and get to know your destination. Find out about local laws and customs.
