Can I have immediate cover?

Provided you buy the cover before the start of your trip, you're covered as soon as you complete your application and your payment is authorised.

You will then have the option of having your policy documents emailed to you and you should make a note of your policy number and the telephone number for the emergency Helpline.

What help is available in an emergency?

You can rest assured that if the worst does happen, you will have immediate access 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to our assistance centre from anywhere in the world. Our experienced staff can handle any emergency situation from a lost passport to authorising medical assistance.

Should I buy a single trip or annual travel policy?

The cover offered under both of these policies is almost identical but if you plan to travel more frequently then our annual policy may be more suitable.

How does an annual policy work?

Our annual policy will cover you for an unlimited number of trips during the policy period providing that each individual trip is not greater than 31 days.

You can extend the 31 day limit to either 45 days or 60 days subject to underwriting criteria and the payment of an additional premium.

What is the maximum age you'll cover

The maximum age for our annual trip policy is 64.

The maximum age for our single trip policy is 86 or 81 if you are planning to travel to Australia, New Zealand, USA or Canada.

We are also unable to offer winter sports or special sports and activities for any person aged 65 or over.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered?

Each insured person who has a pre-existing medical condition must call our medical screening line to complete a medical health questionnaire and we will then be able to confirm if we are able to cover the condition/s

Do I need baggage and money cover?

Our annual and single trip policies automatically include this cover but you can opt to remove this cover for a premium discount.

However, before removing you should check to see if you home insurance provides this cover and that cover will be in place for your trip.

My Partner and I live together but are not married. Are we still eligible for the couple/family option?

Yes, we define a couple as either

  • Married
  • Common-law (including same sex relationships) and have co-habited for at least 6 months
  • Civil Partnership

Who is covered under a "Family" policy?

Husband, Wife (or common-law partner) and all their dependant children, aged under 18 at the time of departure on a single trip policy or date of issue on an annual multi-trip policy, who are in continuous full-time education and live at the family home.

What is an excess?

This is the first amount you and each named person on the insurance certificate, have agreed to pay towards a claim under each section of the policy.

ICan I remove this excess?

Yes, if you opt to include "Excess Waiver" and pay the appropriate additional premium the excess is reduced to £NIL, except where stated in the policy wording.

Do you offer any optional extras?

Yes, we offer a number of optional extras including

Will I be covered for hazardous/special sports?

Our annual and single trip policies provide cover for some hazardous/special sports and these are shown on page 2 of the policy wording under "Special Sports and Activities - Category 1"

If you're taking part in any sport or activity that is not listed under category 1, please contact us to check if you can be covered.

What if I change my mind about this policy?

You can cancel this insurance within 14 days from the date you receive the Policy and Schedule by returning the documents to us. We will then refund your premium in full. There will be no refund of premium if you have made a claim or travel has commenced.

If the policy is cancelled after the 14-day withdrawal period a cancellation charge £15.00 will apply. No refund of premium is available after the 14-day period.

You can get travel advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to ensure you have more information on your destination before you travel.
