Tyre pressure
Did you know, that by checking your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure for your journey and car load, you save on the fuel you burn?
As well as being unsafe to drive with under or over-inflated tyres, it is more beneficial to the environment to have correctly inflated tyres as it cuts down on CO2 emissions.
What's in your car?
If you have lots of unnecessary items in your car or boot, the additional weight could impact on the amount of fuel that your car burns. By decluttering your car, you could cut down your CO2 emissions.
Speed restrictions
Speed limits are enforced to suit the road and environmental conditions. They are the maximum speeds at which you can legally and safely drive. Also, by keeping within the speed limits, you can save on the amount of fuel your car burns, so you will save money and cut CO2 emissions. At 70mph you could be using up to 9% more fuel than at 60mph and up to 15% more fuel than at 50mph.
In a jam
Stopping and accelerating in traffic uses up more fuel than slowing down early and keeping the car in gear. Chances are that if you lift your foot off the accelerator and slow down in good time, the traffic will start moving again, so you can just move up a gear.
